The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) will promote South Korea's advanced geospatial information technology on the international stage again this year, following last year. This is a measure to support the overseas expansion of domestic technology.
On the 23rd, MOLIT announced that it will establish a Korean Pavilion at the '2024 INTERGEO' exhibition held in Stuttgart, Germany, from the 24th to the 26th, showcasing South Korea's cutting-edge geospatial information technology to the world. The Korean Pavilion, which was held for the first time last year, will be operated for the second time this year.
INTERGEO is the world's largest geospatial information exhibition held annually in Germany since 1994. It is a technology-sharing event in the geospatial field with participation from about 600 geospatial companies from approximately 100 countries and more than 15,000 visitors. Last year, MOLIT supported the Korean Pavilion at INTERGEO, enabling five domestic companies to conduct 76 business meetings.
This year, seven companies and institutions recruited through public announcements, including Sistech and the Geospatial Information Quality Management Institute, will showcase their technologies at the Korean Pavilion at INTERGEO. Representative technologies include facility monitoring using autonomous drones, highway control, and drone demonstration city project technologies.
MOLIT plans to support business consultations between domestic companies and high-level decision-makers from international organizations such as the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and global companies through the establishment of this Korean Pavilion. This aims to help domestic companies enter overseas markets.
Additionally, the Korean Pavilion will promote the 'K-GEO Festa' event, formerly known as the Smart Land Expo, which will be held on November 6 at KINTEX in Ilsan. To this end, MOLIT is pursuing global collaborative partnerships such as joint promotions with the INTERGEO event organizers.
K-GEO Festa, now in its 16th year, is Asia's largest geospatial information event, with about 150 domestic and international companies possessing advanced technologies such as digital twins and urban air mobility (UAM), and more than 13,000 participants from about 20 countries.
Park Geon-su, Director of the Land Information Policy Bureau at MOLIT, said, "We hope that operating the Korean Pavilion this time will serve as a foothold for Korea's innovative geospatial technology to enter the global market," adding, "Using the INTERGEO event as a model, we will also successfully lead this year's K-GEO Festa event."
