Im Taehee, Superintendent of Education, "Gyeonggi Office of Education to Prioritize Character Education as Core Task" Im Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, is delivering a congratulatory speech at the "2024 Korea-China-Japan Character Education International Conference" held at the Academy of Korean Studies on the 21st.

Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is promoting character education as a core priority in education to nurture future talents equipped with character and competence."


In his congratulatory speech at the '2024 Korea-China-Japan International Conference on Character Education' held at the Academy of Korean Studies on the 21st, Superintendent Lim quoted a passage from the Doctrine of the Mean: "Cheonmyeongjiwiseong (天命之謂性), Solseongjiwido (率性之謂道), Sudojiwigyoo (修道之謂敎)," emphasizing, "Ultimately, character, which is innately given, must be diligently cultivated and guided along the right path, highlighting the importance of education."


He added, "The development of performance measurement indicators for character education is expected to greatly contribute to the enhancement of character education at schools, alongside the evidence-based character education policies that the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is striving for," and further expressed hope that "excellent character education research based on ethics will continue so that students can grow into citizens with proper character."


Meanwhile, this academic conference was co-hosted by the Korean Society of Ethics and was attended by over 300 participants, including members of the Korea-China Ethics Society, professors researching school violence in Japan, faculty and staff from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, as well as prospective teachers.
