Below is the full text of the 'Joint Statement on Strengthening the Korea-Czech Strategic Partnership'.

On September 20, 2024, President Yoon Suk-yeol of the Republic of Korea and Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic held talks during President Yoon's official visit to the Czech Republic from September 19 to 21, 2024.

During the talks, both sides recalled that the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic established a strategic partnership in 2015, and reaffirmed the solid foundation of friendly relations based on common interests and shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the extensive development of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, politics, security, science and technology, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as various regional and international issues. They also emphasized the vast potential for further cooperation between the two countries in additional areas of mutual interest.

Noting that 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries, both sides agreed that they are ready to advance to a higher-quality cooperative relationship.

Accordingly, recalling the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic adopted during Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka's visit to Korea in February 2015, both sides shared their will to further strengthen the strategic partnership focusing on areas such as nuclear energy, trade and investment, science, technology and innovation, information and communication technology, cyber security, transportation and infrastructure, tourism, culture, and sports.

Sharing a vision to build a more diversified, solid, and future-oriented cooperative relationship, both sides welcomed the adoption of the 2025-2027 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic during the summit between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

Considering the changing geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics, both sides emphasized the need to jointly respond to global challenges they face together, including threats to the current rules-based order, violations of international law, weapons of mass destruction, disruptions to global supply chains, energy crises, climate change, and cyber threats. In this regard, both sides reaffirmed their solidarity with the shared goal of contributing to international peace, security, democracy, and prosperity, and their determination to play a greater role and fulfill greater responsibilities on the international stage.

Recognizing the close interconnection between security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region, both sides shared views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine and violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions by North Korea and Russia. Both sides reaffirmed their evaluation of each other's initiatives and efforts to achieve a denuclearized, free, and prosperous peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula. They also expressed support for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine.
