Citizens are participating in the 'Fusion Rice Cake Making Class' held at the Life Science Practice Room of Yangju Agricultural Technology Center. Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 20th that it has successfully completed the 'Fusion Rice Cake Making Education' program, designed to promote the excellence of locally produced rice and stimulate consumption.
The program, held at the Yangju Agricultural Technology Center's Life Science Practice Room, started on August 23 and was conducted every Friday for a total of five sessions.
The education, led by freelance instructor Choi Bong-seon, combined theory of rice cake making with the introduction of nine types of traditional rice cakes fused with modern sensibilities, including ▲walnut jeolpyeon ▲yuzu rice balls ▲coffee and chocolate cream rice cake ▲pumpkin songpyeon ▲leaf songpyeon ▲white red bean sirutteok, receiving great response.
Participants said, "By making various fusion rice cakes using 'Yangju rice' ourselves, we were able to discover new charms of rice," and "It was very interesting to experience creating new foods by adding modern elements to traditional rice cakes."
A city official stated, "We believe this education played a significant role in widely promoting the excellence of 'Yangju rice' and boosting local rice consumption," adding, "We plan to continuously provide educational programs where citizens can learn various cooking methods using 'Yangju rice'."
Meanwhile, the city explained that, based on this education, it plans to enhance the value of local agricultural products and prepare various experiential programs to encourage residents to actively consume 'Yangju rice.'
