Jeonju City - Nongshim Co., Ltd. - Jeonbuk National University Join Hands for 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon'

Jeonju City to Promote Youth Policies on the 20th at Jeonbuk National University Area

Leading Korean ramen company Nongshim Co., Ltd. and Jeonbuk National University have agreed to actively participate in Jeonju City's 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon' project to prevent social isolation among single-person households and others.


On the 20th, according to Jeonju City, an event titled 'Youth! Together with Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon, Out into the World' was held around Jeonbuk National University's Geonji Square Munhoeru area to raise awareness for preventing social isolation among youth and to promote the discovery of at-risk households.


About 100 people attended the event, including Woo Beom-gi, Mayor of Jeonju City; Yang Oh-bong, President of Jeonbuk National University; Hwang Kyung-tae, Head of Nongshim Co., Ltd.'s Honam Sales Headquarters; Jeonbuk National University staff and students; and local residents.


At the event, the city established a public-private cooperation system with Jeonbuk National University and Nongshim Co., Ltd.'s Honam Sales Headquarters to identify socially isolated youth in the Jeonju area and signed an agreement to support the prevention of social isolation among youth, ensuring the sustainability of the 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon' project.

In accordance with the agreement, Nongshim Co., Ltd.'s Honam Regional Headquarters pledged to regularly donate ramen to six social welfare centers in the Jeonju area for the Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon project.


The BK21 Future Welfare Workforce Training Project Group for Regional Innovation in the Department of Social Welfare at Jeonbuk National University (led by Professor Yoon Myung-sook) also committed to supporting isolated youth with ramen donated through the 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon Youth Happiness Campaign,' which collected ramen contributions from university staff, students, and local residents attending the event.


Additionally, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same day, the experience event venue featured a 'Youth Happiness Campaign' and 'Welfare Crisis Alert App' promotion zones introducing youth isolation prevention projects from six social welfare centers in Jeonju, as well as a Jeonju City youth welfare policy promotion zone.


Nongshim Co., Ltd. operated a food truck at the event, offering ramen tastings and various events to visitors. They also sponsored gift packages featuring Nongshim's signature snacks for participants who completed the youth isolation prevention mission challenge.


Meanwhile, 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon' is Jeonju City's first hometown love fund project. It involves creating and operating a ramen caf? as a community sharing space where anyone can eat and leave food. This is a unique welfare safety net project by Jeonju City designed to naturally discover and reach out to neighbors who live in difficult conditions, such as socially isolated and reclusive households disconnected from the outside world.


Mayor Woo Beom-gi of Jeonju City expressed deep gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank Jeonbuk National University and Nongshim Co., Ltd. for joining forces to support the discovery and assistance of youth at risk of isolation." He added, "We ask for continued interest and cooperation to revitalize the operation of the 'Jeonju Hamkkeramyeon' project through a virtuous cycle of sharing."
