Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that it will hold various autumn festivals where flowers, art, and night views harmonize.


The “2024 Goyang Autumn Flower Festival,” established as Goyang City's representative festival, will be held free of charge from October 1 to 13 at the Theme Plaza of Ilsan Lake Park and the Goyang Flower Exhibition Hall area.


Themed gardens will be created using chrysanthemums and various autumn flowers produced by Goyang's farms, and flower beds made with seasonal flowers such as cosmos and zinnia will be showcased along with emotional photo zones reflecting the autumn theme.


At the Goyang Flower Market, autumn flowers including foliage plants, potted plants, cut flowers, and succulents can be purchased at prices lower than the market. Additionally, the Cactus and Succulent Exhibition (Cactus Festival) by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Technology Institute will be held from October 2 to 6, providing even richer attractions.


From October 12 to 13, the “2024 Changneungcheon Cosmos Festival” will take place at Gangmaeseokgyo Park in Deogyang-gu. Visitors can enjoy a wave of cosmos flowers covering about 30,000㎡, and the festival has become a popular autumn outing spot, attracting over 120,000 visitors last year.

The “2024 Goyang Lake Art Festival” will feature abundant street performances. Held from October 11 to 13, this year’s festival carries the slogan “Fairy-tale Streets, Into the Story,” with over 50 groups participating in more than 150 performances.


Visitors can follow the stage themes from Hall 1 to Hall 5, and experience programs such as Zepeto House, Circus Playground, and Ggomjirak Art Yard will be continuously operated.


The opening performance “Hello, Stranger,” held at 7:30 PM on the 12th, will be the largest-scale domestic show combining fire dance with three aerial structures, featuring 42 citizen performers.


Additionally, at 7:30 PM on the 13th, YB (Yoon Do-hyun Band) will perform the closing show, marking the festival’s grand finale. A spectacular fireworks display accompanied by a 1,000-drone 3D drone show is also expected to light up the night sky at 8:30 PM on both the 12th and 13th.


The “2024 Goyang National Makgeolli Festival” will be held at Ilsan Culture Plaza on October 5 and 6. This year’s festival, hosted and organized by the Brewers Association, will feature 75 companies showcasing around 270 types of Makgeolli. Various programs and performances such as Makgeolli talk shows and Makgeolli brewing experiences are also prepared.

The “2024 Haengju-ga (Street) Art Night” will be held from September 27 to October 13 (6 PM to 10 PM) under the theme “Haengju’s History, Light Opening the Future.” Now in its fourth year, the festival gained wider recognition last year after being selected as one of Korea’s Top 100 Night Spots.


Photo zones with light installations are set up throughout the area from Haengju Fortress’s Daecheopmun Gate to the Haengju Victory Monument at the summit. New programs include a story path comparing Joseon and Japanese weapons, a photo zone using Joseon MBTI, and caricature experiences. Other programs include Haengju Fortress Moonlight Tour, new weapon making, archery, hanbok experience, Ggomjirak Haengju natural crafts, and Haengju Victory woodblock printing.


At Chungui-jeong and the summit plaza, fortress concerts will be held at 8 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays during the festival. On September 28 at 8 PM, the K-Tigers performance with media art at Chungjangsa Temple will celebrate the opening, and on October 12 at 8 PM, the Arumdeuri Dance Company of Goyang Arts High School will perform a special closing show.


From the 27th to the 29th (6 PM to 9 PM), “Reflecting the Lake of Light Fantasy” Season 2 will be held around Ilsan Culture Plaza. Following last year, this showcase presents five works selected through the Goyang City and Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency’s content commercialization support project to citizens.


Interactive contents include “Bitmuri,” which fuses Goyang’s natural beauty with holograms; “Beyond the Light,” which reacts when passing through laser walls and touching light; “Virtual Database Pavilion,” a laser representation linked to Goyang’s landmarks; “Shining Melody,” which uses AI technology to analyze expressions and emit light and sound; and “Light Ensemble,” where visitors can create their own content and project it onto the memorial tower, offering a unique night view experience.
