Odongho, the 17th President of the Gyeongnam Research Institute, received his letter of appointment from Governor Park Wansu on the 20th and began his duties.
President Oh officially took office on this day after the board of directors' resolution on August 9 and the personnel hearing at the provincial council on September 5.

Born in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, he graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Kyung Hee University, earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Seoul National University Graduate School, and a doctorate in Public Administration from Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School.
He began his public service career in Gyeongnam Province in 1986 and has since served as Chief Secretary to the Minister of the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, Senior Policy Advisor at the Presidential Secretariat, Director General of Local Taxation and Director General of Regional Development Policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Ulsan City, Head of the Local Autonomy Development Planning Team at the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy Development, President of the National Human Resources Development Institute, and the inaugural President of the Korea Island Promotion Agency.
President Oh stated, "Together with the members of the Gyeongnam Research Institute, I will create a distinguished knowledge community and transform it into the nation's top regional research institute and a global future research institute."
To achieve this, he presented and plans to pursue five major management goals: ▲the best regional research institute designing the future of Gyeongnam ▲the think tank for the 8th popularly elected provincial administration ▲the future strategy research institute creating engines for future growth ▲the center of Gyeongnam studies redefining the region's history and culture ▲the hub of the industry-academia-research-government knowledge network, Gyeongnam Research Institute.
