Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 20th that Park Hyun-min won the Excellence Award in the plastering category at the 47th International Skills Olympics held in Lyon, France from the 10th to the 15th. Park Hyun-min received the Excellence Award along with a prize of 10 million won and an Industrial Medal.
The competition is held every two years to improve skill levels and promote skill development through skill exchanges among youth from member countries. This year, 1,381 participants from 73 countries competed in 62 categories, and the Korean delegation sent 57 athletes competing in 49 categories.
Park Hyun-min, who represented the country in this competition, graduated from Namyangju High School this year. He previously ranked 1st in the 2022 Gyeonggi-do Skills Competition, 3rd in the National Skills Competition, and 2nd in the 2023 Asian Skills Competition.
Namyangju City and Gyeonggi Province support the improvement of the competition venue environment for the Gyeonggi-do Skills Competition, and Namyangju City provides annual training expenses to athletes who place in the Gyeonggi-do Skills Competition and advance to the National Skills Competition.
Meanwhile, the 48th International Skills Olympics in 2026 is scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China.
