Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, unveiled an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant on the 19th (local time) to support business management for sellers on its online platform.
At the 'Seller Annual Conference' held in Seattle, USA, Amazon introduced the AI assistant codenamed 'Amelia.' Amazon described Amelia as a generative AI-based sales expert.
If sellers encounter issues with their accounts used to sell products on Amazon, Amelia quickly and accurately diagnoses the problems and suggests solutions. Additionally, it helps sellers easily access sales and inventory data they need.
For example, Amelia can provide answers on how to prepare for the holiday shopping season or suggest wording for product listings. Armesh Mehta, Vice President overseeing Amazon sales, stated, "This AI assistant could help simplify online sales for our sellers."
Amelia was released in a trial version to some sellers in the United States starting today. Amazon explained that it can be accessed through an online dashboard provided to sellers to manage and monitor their sales activities. Amazon plans to launch Amelia to all U.S. sellers next month.
Amazon is actively launching generative AI products. In February, it released 'Rufus,' a generative AI-based conversational shopping assistant that recommends the best products to consumers based on its vast product listings and reviews. Next month, Amazon plans to completely revamp its voice assistant 'Alexa,' launched in 2014, by equipping it with conversational AI capabilities to introduce a new Alexa.
