This Year's Theme is 'Wonju Hanji Becomes a World Heritage'
Rich Programs Including Hanji Sculptures and Experience Events
Wonju City (Mayor Won Kang-su) announced on the 20th that the 26th Wonju Hanji Culture Festival will be held for ten days from today until the 29th at Gangwon Gamyeong and the Wonju Hanji Theme Park in Ilsandong, Wonju City.
Now in its 26th year, the Wonju Hanji Culture Festival has established itself as a unique local cultural content event, having been selected as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Local 100,’ which highlights regional attractions, contents, and masters.
This year’s theme is “Wonju Hanji, Becoming a World Heritage.” First, at Gangwon Gamyeong, Hanji sculptures and Hanji artworks will be exhibited from today until the 29th (Sunday). On the 21st (Saturday) and 22nd (Sunday), a two-day Hanji experience event using ‘Bearbrick’ will be held.
At the Hanji Theme Park, starting with the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th, various Hanji sculptures will be displayed until Sunday the 29th. Visitors can participate in Hanji papermaking experiences and watch demonstrations of Hanji papermaking by Gangwon Province’s intangible cultural heritage Hanji masters, along with other Hanji-related programs.
