KOSPI Starts Back Above 2600 as Foreign and Institutional Investors Buy Due to the impact of the US stock market reaching all-time highs in the Dow and S&P 500 within a day, the KOSPI index opened at 2,603.83, up 23.03 points (0.89%) from the previous trading day, and the won/dollar exchange rate started at 1,327.6 won, down 1.4 won. On the 20th, the KOSPI recovered to the 2600 level for the first time in 10 trading days, driven by simultaneous buying from foreigners and institutions. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also showed upward trends.


At 9:13 AM, the KOSPI was trading at 2609.23, up 1.10% (28.43 points) from the previous day. The index opened at 2603.83, up 0.89% (23.03 points) from the previous close.


Foreigners were buyers immediately after the market opened but soon turned to sellers. Foreigners and individuals net sold 16.5 billion KRW and 72 billion KRW respectively. Institutions net bought 111.5 billion KRW. In the futures market, foreigners are buying 368.2 billion KRW, while individuals and foreigners are selling 120.6 billion KRW and 230.7 billion KRW respectively.


Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, most are on the rise. Only Shinhan Financial Group is down by 0.18%. SK Hynix is up 3.86%, LG Energy Solution up 2.55%, and Samsung Electronics up 2.06%.


At 9:19 AM, the KOSDAQ was at 749.36, up 1.33% (9.85 points) from the previous day. The index opened at 746.13, up 0.90% (6.62 points) from the previous close. Foreigners and institutions are net buying 37.6 billion KRW and 20.7 billion KRW respectively, supporting the index. Only individuals are net selling 53.4 billion KRW.


Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, only Classys is down 1.24%. Samchundang Pharmaceutical is up 5.45%, HLB up 4.85%, and Alteogen up 2.14%.
