Ministry of SMEs and Startups Hosts 'Youth Policy Expo'... Supporting Growth of Young Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 20th that it will participate in the '2024 Youth Day' commemorative event co-hosted by the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Seoul Metropolitan Government in celebration of 'Youth Day.'


'Youth Day' is a statutory commemorative day designated by the 'Youth Basic Act' to promote youth development and support and to raise awareness of youth issues. It is designated as the third Saturday of September every year.

This year's commemorative event consists of the 'Youth Day Ceremony' and the 'Youth Policy Expo,' which introduces government youth policies.


At the ceremony held on the 21st, 'Youth Day,' about 500 people including Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, ministers and vice ministers in charge of youth policies, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and youth advisors will attend. The event will include awards for contributors to youth policies and various performances celebrating Youth Day.


The 'Youth Policy Expo' will be held from the 20th to the 22nd at the Culture Square in Yeouido Park. Central government ministries, local governments, public institutions, and youth organizations will operate youth policy promotion booths, and various side events for youth participation will be held.


The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will set up 24 booths for the 'Ministry of SMEs and Startups Special Exhibition' at this expo to introduce and promote youth policies and products and services from youth enterprises. It will provide information on representative youth startup support projects such as the Youth Startup Academy and Startup-Centered Universities, as well as policies needed by youth such as the 'Pretty Good SME Platform' and mobile Onnuri gift certificates.


At the youth enterprise booths, services of youth startups based on deep tech such as artificial intelligence (AI) will be exhibited and demonstrated, and products from youth small business owners suitable for youth lifestyles will be promoted and opportunities for experience will be provided.


Minister Oh Young-joo visited the Ministry of SMEs and Startups special exhibition booths and encouraged, “The government is striving to enable youth to freely pursue their dreams. In particular, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will generously support young entrepreneurs active in various fields to grow as key players in our economy.”
