About 300 Participants Including Dementia Seniors, Families, and Local Residents on the 24th... Creating a Dementia-Friendly Culture and Improving Dementia Awareness
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) will hold the ‘2nd Onbodeum Grand Festival’ on September 24 at 1 PM at Oryu-dong Small Park (Seohaean-ro Residents’ Rest Area) to commemorate World Alzheimer’s Day, bringing together elderly dementia patients, their families, and local residents.
World Alzheimer’s Day is observed annually on September 21 to raise awareness about the importance of dementia management and to foster a nationwide consensus on overcoming dementia.
Following last year, the district plans to host a festival this year as well, with about 300 participants including elderly dementia patients, their families, and local residents, aiming to lead the creation of a dementia-friendly culture and improve dementia awareness.
The festival will be held in two parts: Part 1 is a commemorative ceremony, and Part 2 involves experiential space activities.
The Part 1 commemorative ceremony includes an opening ceremony, greetings, congratulatory speeches, commemorative photo sessions, and a time to follow dementia prevention exercises. This will be followed by celebratory performances such as ukulele and Nanta by members of the dementia prevention program and residents of Oryu 2-dong’s community autonomy class.
Part 2 experiential space activities will feature booths and events that everyone can enjoy, with participation from related organizations including the Dementia Safety Center.
▲ Guro-gu Dementia Safety Center (stress and vascular health tests, smart cognitive program experience, dementia patient family art exhibition, bazaar, photo zone, sweet cotton candy) ▲ Bucheon University Beauty Care Department (face painting experience) ▲ Yes Hospital (blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, health consultation) ▲ Seoul Digital Learning Center (robotics, AI, virtual reality, unmanned terminal experience) ▲ Onsu Senior Welfare Center (traffic safety campaign) ▲ National Health Insurance Service (body composition measurement) ▲ Guro-gu Mental Health Welfare Center (depression and suicide scale tests, mental health awareness events) ▲ Guro Police Station (pre-registration of fingerprints for missing person prevention) ▲ Dementia Safety Village Volunteer Group (food booth, mobile memory caf?) will be operated free of charge, and all residents can participate.

Mayor Moon Heon-il of Guro-gu said, “I hope this festival helps foster understanding of the disease called ‘dementia’ and raises awareness of the social consideration needed for dementia patients and their families. We will continue to strive to improve dementia awareness and create a dementia-friendly community.”
