Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will hold the 'Sowol Cultural Festival' on the 21st under the theme 'Seongdong Meets Sowol' to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of Kim Sowol's birth.
Hosted by Seongdong-gu and organized by 'Reading Mom Reading Child' (CEO Woo Mi-seon), the 'Sowol Cultural Festival' was prepared to provide an opportunity to understand Kim Sowol, one of Korea's representative national poets, and his works from various perspectives.
This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the outdoor plaza of Sowol Art Hall (281 Wangsimni-ro), named after the poet's pen name and located in Wangsimni, where poet Kim Sowol stayed while working on his literary activities.
On the day of the event, various programs consisting of ▲ making ▲ composing ▲ playing ▲ photographing will be held, including an exhibition themed on Kim Sowol. Participants can experience making azalea knitted flowers and purple cloud mobiles inspired by the poet's representative works 'Azaleas' and 'Purple Clouds,' as well as listening to music with lyrics based on Kim Sowol's poems. Programs are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "It is very meaningful to hold the 'Sowol Cultural Festival' in Wangsimni, a place deeply connected to poet Kim Sowol, to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of his birth," and added, "We will continue to develop festivals that blend the history and tradition of Seongdong-gu."
