Exhibition Theme 'Remembering Your Iksan Through Space'
87 Contest Participants... 3,148 Records Exhibited
"We feel the traces of life in the records of Iksan citizens."
Jeonbuk Iksan City announced on the 19th that the '4th Iksan City Private Records Collection Contest Exhibition' will be held at the Iksan Arts Center Gallery on the 1st floor until the 15th of next month.
The theme of this exhibition is "Your Iksan Remembered Through Space." It provides a special opportunity to feel the footprints of life left by Iksan citizens, such as the record of the list of heads of Hamyeol-hyeon and a diary of a high school girl during the Japanese colonial period.

At the opening ceremony marking the start of the exhibition, about 200 people including Jeong Heon-yul, Mayor of Iksan, Kim Gyeong-jin, Chairman of the Iksan City Council, city and provincial council members, contest winners, education office officials, and private record management committee members gathered.
The exhibition was prepared to share memories of various spaces in Iksan with citizens. A total of 3,148 precious records from 87 participants in this contest are on display.
The exhibition space is organized into four categories?living, education, culture, and system?to help visitors understand and to create new value through records gathered by theme.
The living space exhibits land sale documents, diaries, bankbooks, letters, and more. The education space displays certificates, diplomas, textbooks, and student photos. The culture space features records related to literature, music, arts, and religion. Lastly, the system space showcases booklets issued by the state.
Among the award-winning records are ▲the Hamyeol-hyeon head list written by Hamra Noso ▲the red plaque of Kim Cheong from the Gyeongju Kim clan and the appointment document as Yeosan County Governor ▲a high school girl’s diary from the Japanese colonial period along with its translation ▲and the Iksan Nonggi Sabae, which captures the demonstration process of Gisebae Nori, designated as an intangible cultural heritage of Jeonbuk.
The Hamyeol-hyeon head list includes a total of 96 names, from Lee Gwi-jong, who was appointed in 1453, to Lee Deok-hang, who was dismissed in Seoul in 1742. It is considered a valuable resource as it appears to be the only head list among the four counties of Iksan, Yeosan, Hamyeol, and Yongan.
Kwon Jung-chang, chairman of Hamra Noso and grand prize winner, said, "I am honored to participate in this meaningful event for the development of private records in Iksan City," and added, "I will donate the entire prize money to the Iksan Love Scholarship Foundation for the development of local education and nurturing future talents."
Mayor Jeong Heon-yul expressed, "I sincerely thank the citizens who actively participated in collecting private records," and said, "Please continue to show affection and interest so that the history of Iksan will be proudly recorded. I hope this exhibition will be a meaningful time to share the region’s history and memories."
