A man in his 20s has been arrested after causing the death of a security guard in his 60s, who was trying to break up a dispute over parking with a neighbor at an apartment complex.
The apartment security guard, who suffered a severe head injury while intervening in the residents' argument, died nine days after the incident.
According to the Busanjin Police Station in Busan on the 19th, around 3 p.m. on the 10th, at the parking lot of an apartment complex in Busanjin-gu, a man in his 20s, referred to as A, got into a fight with another driver over vehicle access. During the altercation, he tripped a security guard in his 60s, referred to as B, who was trying to break up the fight, causing him to fall.
B suffered a severe head injury, fell into a state of brain death, and ultimately passed away on the 18th. B had been receiving continuous treatment in the intensive care unit.
The police initially applied for an arrest warrant for A on charges of inflicting serious injury, but as B has died, they plan to change the charges to injury resulting in death or possibly murder.
The court issued the arrest warrant requested by the police on the 19th, stating, "There is a risk that A may attempt to flee."
A police official said, "As the victim has died, we will review the applicable charges for A and continue the investigation accordingly."
