40s Man Driving on Seocheon-Gongju Expressway Sent to Prosecution in Custody
A man in his 40s who was caught performing stunt driving on the highway after using philopon was handed over to the prosecution.
The Gongju Police Station in Chungnam reported to Yonhap News on the 19th that they had arrested and sent a man in his 40s, Mr. A, to the prosecution on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and drug-impaired driving under the Road Traffic Act. On the morning of the 6th at 8:22 a.m., police received a report at the Cheongyang Rest Area on the downward lane of the Seocheon-Gongju Expressway that "the driver of a stopped vehicle appeared to be on drugs."

When the police arrived, Mr. A was wearing a short-sleeved undershirt and underwear, and his body was soaking wet. He even exhibited abnormal behavior such as shaking his body vigorously. Suspecting drug use, the police searched Mr. A’s vehicle but found no narcotics or syringes. Moreover, Mr. A was neither intoxicated nor wanted by the police. After telling the police he could drive alone, he left the rest area and continued to perform dangerous stunt driving, weaving between lanes.
The police stopped Mr. A’s vehicle on the shoulder and, noting his unfocused eyes and body shaking, suspected he had already taken drugs before driving. After persistent questioning, the police discovered that Mr. A had a prior record of punishment for philopon use.
Mr. A was voluntarily taken to the police station for a simple drug test but strongly refused the test and was subsequently arrested. The drug test results showed a positive reaction for philopon in Mr. A’s urine. The police conducted a detention investigation and sent him to the prosecution on the 13th.
A man in his 20s who wandered naked after leaving home also tested positive for drugs
Meanwhile, recently in Seoul, a man in his 20s who wandered naked after leaving his home during rush hour was caught by the police. He tested positive in a simple drug test.
The Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced on the same day that they had arrested Mr. B, a man in his 20s, on the spot on charges of public indecency and are investigating. Around 8 a.m. on the 12th, Mr. B was found leaning naked against the entrance of a multi-family house on the first floor in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
Police who responded to a resident’s report found Mr. B acting incoherently and conducted a simple drug test, which confirmed a positive reaction for drugs. A police official said, "We have requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service."
