Former President Moon Jae-in Visits Gwangju Biennale Again

Attendance for 2 Consecutive Years Following Last May
Former President Moon: "Biennale is Gwangju's Pride"

Former President Moon Jae-in is touring the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall with Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung on the morning of the 19th.

Former President Moon Jae-in visited the Gwangju Biennale again this year, following his visit last year.

On the morning of the 19th, former President Moon Jae-in, along with Kang Gi-jung, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, visited the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall to view the "15th Gwangju Biennale."

On this day, the Gwangju Biennale viewing was attended by former President Moon Jae-in and his wife Kim Jung-sook, Mayor Kang Gi-jung, Park Yang-woo, CEO of the Gwangju Biennale, Yoon Do-han, CEO of GGN Global Gwangju Broadcasting, and former Blue House Chief of Staff Noh Young-min, among others.

Former President Moon Jae-in left a message in the guestbook saying, "I am proud of the 30 years of achievements of the Gwangju Biennale. Congratulations."

President Moon and his party spent about an hour touring the entire exhibition hall, viewing works such as Marguerite Humeau's "Stir," Dominique Knowles' "A Solemn and Dignified Funeral Suitable for My Beloved in Every Season," and Bianca Bondi's "Long and Dark Swim."

Before the exhibition viewing, former President Moon Jae-in recalled his impressions from attending the 1st Gwangju Biennale held in 1995 during a conversation. He expressed special affection by saying, "The Gwangju Biennale is the pride of the citizens of Gwangju."

In May last year, former President Moon also visited the "14th Gwangju Biennale" with Kim Jung-sook, and has consistently visited the Gwangju Biennale since his retirement.

Kang Gi-jung, Mayor of Gwangju, stated, "The Gwangju Biennale began 30 years ago as a channel that converged the spirit of May 18, which exploded into culture and arts after 1980, and has today established itself as Korea's representative cultural and arts festival. We deeply appreciate the visit of former President Moon and Kim Jung-sook. With such affection, the Gwangju Biennale will stand tall on the world stage."

Meanwhile, the 15th Gwangju Biennale is being held until December 1 at eight exhibition spaces, including the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, and Sori Forest in Yangnim-dong, Nam-gu.
