At the business agreement attended by Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, and Kim Byeong-seok, President of KICT, both organizations agreed to join forces to promote future industries such as hydrogen cities and future automobiles.
To this end, the two organizations plan to collaborate on ▲ expanding regionally specialized hydrogen cities and promoting hydrogen infrastructure projects ▲ advancing technology development projects in the field of future air transportation ▲ cooperating on national research outcomes demonstration and financial projects ▲ establishing a regional research center for hydrogen at KICT.
In particular, KICT pledged active cooperation in the hydrogen city development and urban air mobility (UAM) hub projects promoted by Pyeongtaek City. Additionally, the agreement includes collaboration on educational programs in the event of attracting a science high school to southern Gyeonggi Province.
Meanwhile, Pyeongtaek City is actively working to create an eco-friendly city based on hydrogen, including completing the nation's largest public hydrogen production facility, establishing the country's first hydrogen transportation complex, and being selected as a hydrogen city by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Mayor Jeong said, "Through solid cooperation with the institute, we will strive to realize a specialized hydrogen city model for Pyeongtaek and foster future industries." President Kim also responded, "We expect that KICT, representing construction technology research, and Pyeongtaek City, representing a new growth city, will play a pivotal role in realizing a hydrogen-based future city through an organic cooperative relationship."
