Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) invites those in need of a break from their busy daily lives to a "healing time."
Seo-gu, Gwangju announced on the 19th that the 9th Seochang Eulalia Festival will be held for four days from October 17 to 20 along the Yeongsan River.
This year's festival, themed "An Invitation to Autumn Delivered by Silver Eulalia," will transform a 4 km stretch of the Eulalia path from Geungnakgyo to Seochanggyo into the festival venue.
Both the opening ceremony on the 17th and the closing ceremony on the 20th will start at 5 p.m., when the red sunset lingers over the Eulalia fields, capturing the natural beauty on stage. At the opening ceremony, about 400 members of 18 village choirs will welcome visitors around the main stage by singing songs such as "Beautiful Country," "Champion," and "One Fine Day in October," and a "Invitation Message" event featuring key attendees will take place.
Following last year, Seo-gu will operate a 17-seat electric vehicle around the festival area this year as well, with a usage fee of 1,000 KRW per ride, which will be fully donated through the Gwangju branch of the Community Chest of Korea.
For visitors' transportation convenience, large parking lots near the festival site such as Gwangju Outlet and Kim Daejung Convention Center will be utilized, and shuttle buses connecting the downtown area to the venue will operate at 30-minute intervals.
Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, "The Seochang Eulalia Festival is a healing festival in the city where you can enjoy the natural scenery of silver Eulalia and red sunsets along the Yeongsan River. We will make this festival a place and time to invite your loved ones to the best experience."
