Accordingly, the county established a basic plan in 2023 to prevent damage and protect residents' lives, designated the area as a natural disaster risk zone in February 2024, and applied for the comprehensive flood and wind disaster living zone maintenance project. After passing the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s review in September this year and being reflected in the 2025 government budget proposal, it was finally confirmed.

Through this project, Boseong-gun plans to comprehensively maintain 1.3 km of rivers, one drainage pump station, and 3.8 km of drainage channels from 2025 to 2028, and carry out overall removal work on factors causing disasters. In addition, to expedite the project, the county will prioritize investing local funds in 2024 to proceed with detailed design.

Meanwhile, Beolgyo Bongnim District, selected in the 2023 flood and wind disaster living zone maintenance project, is currently undergoing maintenance of 1.4 km of Beolgyo Stream and installation of drainage pump stations with a total investment of 35.8 billion KRW including national funds, to reduce flood risk in Bongnim-ri and the Beolgyo-eup urban area.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “We will do our best to ensure that residents can live safely from natural disasters through the comprehensive maintenance projects of Beolgyo Yangchon District and Bongnim District selected in this contest.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Comprehensive Flood and Wind Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project’ is a project that promotes maintenance projects, which were previously implemented separately for each unit project to resolve disaster risks, in an integrated manner through comprehensive disaster risk analysis.
