Kim Yeji (Imsil County Office), the silver medalist in shooting at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been cast as a killer in the spin-off short-form series "Crush" of the movie "Asia."

Asia Lab Entertainment announced in a press release on the 19th, "Shooting athlete Kim Yeji has been cast as a killer in the spin-off short-form series 'Crush' of the movie 'Asia'." "Asia" is a film directed by Lee Jeongseop, featuring multinational actors from the U.S. and more than seven Asian countries, addressing issues of racial hatred and discrimination.

Kim Yeji was cast alongside Indian actress Anushka Sen, who has over 40 million followers on social media (SNS), as killers. Lee Jeongseop, the representative of Asia Lab and the director, said, "The joint casting of Sen and Kim Yeji as killers in the 'Asia' spin-off short-form series will be a turning point that brings innovation to global short-form series."

Meanwhile, Kim Yeji won the silver medal in the women's 10m air pistol individual final at the Paris Olympics last July. Her competition scenes gained popularity both domestically and internationally. In particular, her expressionless look with a white baseball cap bearing the Taegeuk mark, shooting scope, and eye patch, seemingly raising her chin, became a hot topic online.

Later, a video of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup 25m pistol event held in Baku, Azerbaijan, last May also became a late sensation. The video showed Kim Yeji shooting with a black baseball cap worn backward and a nonchalant expression. Her expressionless demeanor as she put down the gun after setting a world record sparked great interest among netizens.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who saw this, also tweeted on his X (formerly Twitter), "It would be cool if a shooting world champion appeared in an action movie," adding, "Kim Yeji should be cast in an action movie. No acting skills needed." Additionally, U.S. NBC broadcast selected Kim Yeji as one of the 'Top 10 Stars of the Paris Olympics.'
