Yatap Station 'Weapon Rampage' Threat Post... Police Track Author and Deploy Experienced Officers

At Yatap Station on the Suin-Bundang Line in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, an online community post threatening to carry out a 'weapon rampage' was uploaded, prompting the police to launch an investigation.


KBS reported on the 19th that the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency is tracking the author of a post stating the intention to "cause a weapon rampage near Yatap Station on Monday (the 23rd)."

The post was uploaded the previous afternoon. The author wrote, "Recently, my parents abandoned me and my friends ignored me," adding, "I'm posting here because I’m afraid I might get caught if I post on DC (a famous online community)."

He threatened, "Your acquaintances, all of you, just wait," and said, "Unless the police shoot their firearms, I will harm you all before leaving." He also said, "You all should live unhappily," and added, "Looking at the comments, no one is offering comfort. I will set a fire. Exactly at 6 p.m." He also attached an image of a map near Yatap Station.


The Bundang Police Station in Seongnam reportedly received additional riot police deployment in preparation for any possible situation and plans to conduct intensive patrols starting from the 20th.
