"No Food, No Sleep"... '6.6 Billion Game' Participants Sue World's No.1 YouTuber

"Participants Ruthlessly Exploited for Labor"
Forced to Join Games with Injury Risks

MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), the world's number one YouTuber with 300 million subscribers, has reportedly been sued by participants of a reality game show he is producing with the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.

On the 18th (local time), according to US CNN and NBC broadcasts, five participants of MrBeast's game show 'Beast Games' filed a lawsuit on the 16th against MrBeast's production company and Amazon Prime Video, claiming they suffered unfair treatment during the filming of the program.

In the complaint submitted to the Los Angeles (LA) Superior Court in California, they alleged that the show's producers and Amazon shamelessly exploited the participants' labor. They further stated that participants were not properly fed and were not given enough sleep. The plaintiffs also wrote that despite a lack of medical staff on set, participants were forced to engage in games with physical and mental injury risks, and some participants were eventually hospitalized. Additionally, there were claims that the production team promoted sexism and misogyny.

A spokesperson for MrBeast declined to comment on the matter. The show is still being filmed in Canada and Panama, and the airing date has not yet been determined.

Earlier, in March, Amazon Prime Video announced that it would collaborate with MrBeast to produce and air the reality game show 'Beast Games.' According to the information released at the time, the show was planned based on MrBeast's existing YouTube content format, featuring 1,000 participants competing for $5 million (approximately 6.66 billion KRW). Amazon stated that this is the largest single prize in the history of TV and streaming platforms.

Meanwhile, MrBeast, who has been active since 2012, currently has 316 million YouTube subscribers. The most viewed video on his channel was released in 2021, where he imitated the 'Squid Game' by gathering ordinary participants to compete in similar games for $456,000 (approximately 600 million KRW). The video gained worldwide attention and has recorded over 650 million views to date.
