Finals to Be Held on October 5-6
The 2nd Yeongju Mayor's Cup Amateur e-Sports Tournament will be held over two days, October 5-6, at the Seonbi Sesang Convention Hall.
This tournament, with a total prize pool of 13.7 million KRW, will feature four events: three for the general division?'League of Legends' (5v5 team match), 'StarCraft' (1v1 individual match), and 'FC Online' (1v1 individual match)?and one for middle and high school teams, 'Valorant' (5v5 team match).
The tournament will be divided into online preliminaries and offline finals. Up to the quarterfinals in each event will be held online, while the semifinals and finals will take place offline.
Anyone across the country can apply to participate, and applications will be accepted until September 22 via the QR code on the promotional materials.
The finalists who advance through the online preliminaries will gather at Seonbi Sesang in Yeongju (Sunheung-myeon) on October 5 and 6 to compete for the championship in each category through offline finals.
According to Yeongju City, on October 5-6, when the offline finals are held, the Seonbi Sesang Convention Hall will be filled with various side events for both participants and visitors to enjoy.
For young people aspiring to become professional gamers, there will be an 'e-Sports Career Counseling' booth operated by Dongyang University’s Department of Game Studies. There will also be a 'Board Game Zone', 'Retro Arcade Zone', 'Nintendo Zone', and a 'VR' experience booth for families and friends to enjoy together.
There will also be a family event match for the mobile game 'Brawl Stars' (3v3 team match) aimed at younger participants. In addition, there will be experience booths offering free consultations with experts on 'personal color', 'personality type test (MBTI)', and 'tarot', as well as various event programs featuring influencer ex-pro gamers.
Lee Seongeun (Heuk Unjang), a famous game YouTuber from Yeongju and former professional gamer, will once again participate as a commentator, lending his support to the e-sports tournament being held in his hometown for the second time.
Mayor Park Namseo said, "Following last year's inaugural tournament, I ask for the keen interest and participation of both local residents and amateur players nationwide in the second edition of this e-sports tournament. I hope this event will contribute to the development of e-sports in Korea and serve as a stepping stone for Gyeongbuk to become a leading e-sports city."
