S-Oil Signs MOU with T'way Air for SAF Supply

S-Oil Signs MOU with T'way Air for SAF Supply

On the 19th, S-OIL announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with T'way Air for the supply of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) for commercial flights and co-marketing activities. Accordingly, S-OIL will actively cooperate in supplying the SAF required for T'way Air's commercial flights on routes to Japan starting in September, as well as future SAF supply needs.

S-OIL and T'way Air also agreed to collaborate on the overall SAF business, actively cooperating not only in the supply of eco-friendly products but also in joint marketing and promotional activities between the two companies.

Since March, S-OIL and T'way Air have continuously conducted various collaborative marketing efforts, including friend referral events for T'way Plus membership and producing collaborative videos. In particular, in August, they released a collaborative video featuring S-OIL's character 'Gudoil' traveling to five new European destinations served by T'way Air (Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Frankfurt, and Zagreb).

An S-OIL official stated, "We are actively striving for sustainable growth in the refining and aviation businesses through collaboration with T'way Air on SAF and co-marketing."

S-OIL is leading the market among domestic refiners with its advanced steps in the entire process from SAF production and international certification to supply. Anwar Al Hezazi, CEO of S-OIL, expressed his commitment, saying, "S-OIL is actively responding to become a clean energy supplier that contributes to the global decarbonization trend and the establishment of a circular economy."

In fact, in January this year, S-OIL became the first in Korea to process bio-based raw materials (such as waste cooking oil) in its refining facilities (co-processing), and in April, it obtained international certification for sustainable aviation fuel (ISCC CORSIA), officially starting the production of carbon-reducing products. From September, S-OIL will supply SAF it directly produces once a week to Korean Air passenger flights operating commercial routes to Tokyo, further strengthening the expansion of the next-generation eco-friendly SAF ecosystem.
