[Gallery Walk] The Essence Summarized in Impressionist Expression: Jeong Saerom Solo Exhibition

'Sweet Ice Cream'
Until October 5, Gallery Unplugged, Apgujeong-ro, Gangnam-gu

Beloved pets, close friends, blood-related siblings, always affectionate parents... Everyone has the desire to keep beautiful memories with animals or people around them alive in the present tense for a long time, but no one can possess or be with them forever.

Artist Jeong Saerom says, "I vividly recall someone I want to be with, but it is not easy," adding, "Those memories fade over time, and sometimes I encounter them in dreams or mistake them for reality." Her works feature figures with round faces without eyes, nose, or mouth.

The artist explains that these figures are "mainly imagined and reminisced representations of someone whose memories have faded from past travels," and that "when drawing the figures, eyes, nose, and mouth are omitted."

Gallery Unplugged in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul announced on the 19th that it will hold Jeong Saerom's solo exhibition 'Sweet Ice Cream' until October 6.

The artist has also exhibited works creatively interpreting pop art, impressionism, and abstract expressionism techniques at Taiwan's '333 Gallery' and the UK's 'Saatchi Gallery.'

In particular, this exhibition presents new works that borrow the expression methods of impressionist painters focusing on light and color, featuring bold brushstrokes and thick layers of paint that resemble melting ice cream.

A representative from Gallery Unplugged explained, "Jeong Saerom's works hide a unique personality that extracts only the most essential elements through deep observation," adding, "The figures drawn with round faces without eyes, nose, or mouth convey the artist's message that 'anyone can be the protagonist in the scene.'"
