People in Their 20s Spend the Longest Time on YouTube and Instagram

Among the apps most used by Koreans, 'YouTube' ranked first, with Instagram being the second most used app among the 10s and 20s age group, and KakaoTalk being the most used app after YouTube among those aged 30 and above.

On the 19th, WiseApp, Retail, and Goods, an app and retail analysis service, conducted a sample survey of Korean smartphone users (Android + iOS). The results showed that in August, combining all age groups, the app Koreans used the longest was YouTube, with a total usage time of 117.4 billion minutes over the month.

Looking at the age groups, users under 20 used YouTube the longest, followed by Instagram, KakaoTalk, TikTok, Naver Webtoon, Roblox, Naver, Brawl Stars, X, and Zeta. For those in their 20s, YouTube was also the most used app, with Instagram ranking second. Notably, the 20s age group had the longest usage times for YouTube and Instagram across all age groups.

Those in their 30s also used YouTube the longest. However, the second most used app was KakaoTalk, followed by Instagram in third place. For the 40s age group, the apps used longest were YouTube, KakaoTalk, Naver, Instagram, T map, Netflix, Coupang, Danggeun, Naver Cafe, and TikTok Lite in that order. For those in their 50s, the order was YouTube, KakaoTalk, Naver, T map, Coupang, Instagram, Daum, Netflix, Danggeun, and TikTok Lite. For those aged 60 and above, the apps used longest were YouTube, KakaoTalk, Naver, Daum, TikTok, TikTok Lite, Coupang, T map, Danggeun, and Instagram in that order.
