Next Month, Seoul Area Visit Charging Service
Selected 400 People for One-Month Pilot Operation
A mobile charging service that allows electric vehicles to be charged anywhere without visiting a charging station has been introduced.
SK Eliclink announced on the 19th that it will pilot this electric vehicle mobile charging service in the Seoul area next month. The service involves loading a product from Enercamp, a manufacturer of portable electric vehicle chargers, onto Hyundai Motor Company's commercial electric vehicle 'ST1' and directly visiting customers. It can charge at a speed of 60kWh, about 10 times faster than a home slow charger.
This service is part of a national project led by SK Eliclink under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy called 'Development of Components and Operation Technology for Portable Wired and Wireless Electric Vehicle Automatic Charging Systems.' Those interested in experiencing the service can apply on the SK Eliclink website until the 24th. SK Eliclink plans to recruit about 400 people through a lottery. During the pilot operation period, free interior and exterior steam car washing will also be provided along with charging.
An SK Eliclink official said, "The mobile charging service will be a great help to electric vehicle customers in areas lacking charging infrastructure or experiencing unexpected battery depletion," adding, "We will continue to develop charging technology and improve services to provide a safer and more comfortable electric vehicle driving environment."
