Under the theme "Invitation From KANU," participants for this championship will be recruited through the KANU Paddle application (app) until the 24th. Any adult interested in coffee can apply.
The preliminary round will be held from the 15th to the 18th of next month at Maxim Plant in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. After selecting finalists there, the final winner will be decided on November 16-17 at a venue prepared in Seongsu-dong. Prize money will be awarded as 30 million KRW for first place, 10 million KRW for second place, and 5 million KRW for third place.
The KANU Barista Championship, held for the first time this year, was planned to promote the excellence of KANU ground coffee quality and to spread a premium coffee life culture.
The competition will be judged by coffee experts, including barista Um Boram, the 2023 World Barista Championship (WBC) winner. Various events and experience programs for general consumers will also be operated during the championship period.
Kim Minsu, Marketing Manager at Dongseo Foods, said, "Through the 2024 KANU Barista Championship, we will expand the premium coffee culture and promote the excellence of KANU ground coffee," adding, "We look forward to the participation and interest of many outstanding baristas with their own coffee philosophy, including consumers who love coffee."
