"We Will Become Korea's Only Amateur Sports Platform"

KT Skylife announced on the 19th that it will make a full-scale entry into the 'AI Sports Broadcasting Platform Business' by investing 6.8 billion KRW in Hogak, an AI broadcasting solution specialist company, in July.

Hogak will exclusively broadcast the '2024 Seoul Homeless World Cup,' officially sponsored by FIFA, for eight days starting from the 21st. Hogak's 'AI Sports Broadcasting' will be aired through Hogak's own application (app), FIFA+, and Naver Sports.

The Homeless World Cup is a sports cultural festival created to help people in housing blind spots and encourage self-reliance through soccer. It began in 2003 to improve social prejudice against the housing vulnerable and raise awareness of housing issues through sports.

Hogak uses Israel's Pixellot AI camera system for sports broadcasting. Hogak has technology that films real-time game footage with AI cameras installed in the stadium and automatically edits and broadcasts it.

The AI-based sports broadcasting system enables revolutionary cost savings compared to traditional broadcasting methods, making it mainly used for amateur sports and less popular sports with limited budgets. According to data from the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation in 2019, using AI cameras can reduce existing sports broadcasting production costs by 90%.

Hogak currently has broadcasting rights contracts with the Korea Football Association K4 League, Korea Volleyball Association, Korea Handball Federation, and is also building systems in private sports facilities such as local governments, school sports facilities, and sports academies.

According to global market research firm Allied Market Research, the global sports AI market size reached 2.2 billion USD in 2022. Furthermore, it is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 29.7% until 2032, forming a market size of 29.7 billion USD.

KT Skylife plans to become the 'only domestic total platform for amateur sports' in cooperation with Hogak. Based on the AI-based broadcasting platform, Skylife will expand functions such as game analysis, personal video editing, and sports education. Through collaboration with group companies, it also plans to provide additional services such as game video storage using the cloud.

Choi Young-beom, CEO of KT Skylife, said, "The innovative sports broadcasting method using AI technology of Skylife and Hogak will further invigorate the growing domestic amateur sports market."
