Sales Surpass 30 Billion Won Just 9 Months After Launch
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 19th that its 'Bibigo Whole Shrimp Dumplings,' launched at the end of last year, surpassed 5 million units in cumulative sales within 9 months of release. In terms of revenue, this amounts to over 30 billion KRW, which corresponds to the first-year sales of 'Bibigo Wang Gyoza' after its launch.
The frozen dumpling sales of CJ CheilJedang, the industry leader, increased by more than 15% from January to July this year compared to the same period last year, following the launch of Bibigo Whole Shrimp Dumplings. The domestic frozen dumpling market size also grew by 2.6% year-on-year, showing a contrasting trend to the 1.3% decline recorded last year.
Bibigo Whole Shrimp Dumplings are popular because, unlike conventional shrimp dumplings, they contain whole shrimp including the tail. Additionally, the dumplings feature a thin wrapper that wraps the shrimp, creating a distinctive appearance. The frozen shrimp maintains its unique elasticity and texture even after cooking. When pan-fried, the dumpling skin is crispy, and when steamed, it remains moist, thanks to a specially developed premix exclusively for Bibigo Whole Shrimp Dumplings.
Yoon Ju-young, head of CJ CheilJedang’s Frozen Dumplings & Noodles Team, said, "The reason Bibigo Whole Shrimp Dumplings are so well-loved is due to their differentiated taste that consumers have never experienced in frozen dumplings before. We will continue to fulfill our role as the market leader by offering consumers diverse choices and driving growth in the domestic frozen dumpling market."
