YouTuber Ppeokka, who posted videos related to deepfake sex crimes, expressed his frustration over the suspension of his channel's monetization.
On the 16th, Ppeokka uploaded a video titled "Channel Suspension Details" on his YouTube channel. He began by saying, "I don't understand why I have to be suspended (from monetization)." He added, "The ones who are at fault are those people who spread fake news, incite division between men and women with lies. Am I not allowed to criticize or express negative opinions about that?"
He continued, "The claims I made, such as 'It's an overreaction' and '(The number of victims) 220,000 is exaggerated,' are now being made by politicians as well," emphasizing that Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, made similar statements. Ppeokka stated, "My channel was targeted by report attacks, and YouTube inexplicably suspended my monetization as is," adding, "This kind of operation gives those forces the power to suspend any YouTuber they dislike at any time in the future."
He also said, "The media is massively spreading fake news and inciting the public as if I were defending deepfake crimes and mocking victims, leading to this conclusion," and added, "I was talking about the forces that are spreading fear by saying '220,000,' and telling them not to make a fuss like that." Finally, he said, "I want to make it clear that I have absolutely no intention of defending crimes," and added, "I hope everyone thinks freely and critically."
Meanwhile, Ppeokka is a so-called 'cyber wrecker' YouTuber who discusses various online issues. On the 26th of last month, he posted a video related to politicians and social media users expressing concerns about deepfake sex crimes, which led to sanctions from YouTube Korea. YouTube Korea suspended monetization on Ppeokka's channel citing "the creator's behavior on and off the platform harms the YouTube community," in accordance with the "Guidelines on Creator Responsibility."
