Gwangju Shinsegae Highlights Men's Boots and Women's Uniforms
Gender Distinction Is Now a Thing of the Past...Related Products Released One After Another
In the fashion industry, the genderless trend, which blurs the distinction between male and female, is spreading, leading to the continuous release of related products.
Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Donghoon Lee) is preparing products that align with the emerging genderless trend to invite customers.
Recently, 'Hunter,' located on the basement first floor of the new building of Gwangju Shinsegae, is recognized as a brand that has greatly contributed to popularizing rain boots. It has also played a significant role in expanding the rain boot customer base from primarily women to include men.
In fact, an analysis of Hunter's sales at Gwangju Shinsegae in July showed that 20% of rain boot sales were men's products. In response to this genderless trend, Hunter is strengthening its men's rain boot line and expanding items that can be used regardless of gender, such as backpacks, crossbody bags, and raincoats.
The genderless trend can also be seen at 'Football Standard,' which opened as a pop-up store on the basement first floor of the new building of Gwangju Shinsegae last April. Football Standard, which mainly showcases uniforms of English Premier League football teams such as Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, has a female customer ratio of 40%.
Additionally, the genderless trend is evident in athleisure looks, which have traditionally been popular among female customers. Athleisure is a compound word of athletic and leisure, referring to clothing that is both sportswear and comfortable for everyday wear.
Jungil Lee, team leader of the new building at Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “As the genderless trend spreads, the fashion industry is quickly releasing related products. We hope many customers visit Gwangju Shinsegae, where they can explore this new trend all in one place.”
