To Avoid Congestion on Specific Days, Vaccinations Conducted by Age Group
Simultaneous Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations for 65 and Older Scheduled for Mid-Next Month
Jeollanam-do will begin free flu vaccinations starting from the 20th. The target group includes children, pregnant women, and seniors aged 65 and older, totaling approximately 530,000 people.
To avoid congestion concentrated on specific days, Jeonnam Province will conduct the vaccinations by age group.
Primary vaccinations for children aged 6 months to 13 years will start from the 20th, those aged 75 and older from October 11, and those aged 65 and older from October 18, continuing until April 30, 2025.
Jeonnam Province will also support free flu vaccinations for 22,000 basic livelihood security recipients aged 50 to 64 who are not covered by the national immunization program.
The flu epidemic warning was issued on September 15 last year, and the flu typically tends to spread from late October through February on average.
Recently, respiratory infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and Mycoplasma pneumonia have been increasing, so high-risk groups should promptly participate in vaccinations according to the schedule.
Vaccinations are conducted at designated medical institutions or public health centers. Eligible individuals should bring their ID and visit the nearest vaccination site.
Lee Sang-shim, Director of Health and Welfare at Jeonnam Province, stated, “To prevent the flu that occurs every winter, elderly people with weakened immunity and children must get vaccinated against the flu.” He added, “Since the safety of simultaneous flu and COVID-19 vaccinations has been confirmed, seniors aged 65 and older and immunocompromised individuals are encouraged to actively participate in simultaneous vaccinations starting mid-October.”
