36th and 37th Home Runs in Gyeonggi on the 16th
Professional baseball player Kim Do-young (20) of the KIA Tigers came closer to the remarkable 40 home runs-40 stolen bases milestone by hitting two home runs in one day.
On the 16th, Kim Do-young appeared as the leadoff hitter in the top of the 3rd inning during the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League away game against the kt wiz at Suwon KT Wiz Park, and hit a solo home run off kt's starting pitcher Wes Benjamin, extending the lead to 4-0.
After hitting his 35th home run of the season on the 1st against the Daegu Samsung Lions, Kim Do-young had not produced a home run in eight consecutive games, but he broke his drought in front of the fans filling KT Wiz Park after half a month.
In the top of the 9th inning, with runners on first and second base, he crushed a three-run home run off Kim Min-soo that cleared the center fence, marking his 37th home run of the season.
This was the first time in 152 days since early in the season on April 17 against the SSG Landers that Kim Do-young hit two home runs in a single game.
With this, Kim Do-young is now only three home runs and one stolen base away from joining the KBO League's second-ever '40 home runs-40 stolen bases' club.
