On the 14th, the Busanjin Police Station in Busan announced that security guard Mr. A, in his 60s, was assaulted by Mr. B, a man in his 20s, around 3 p.m. on the 10th at the entrance of the parking lot of an apartment in Busanjin-gu, Busan, resulting in Mr. A falling into a brain-dead state.

At the time, Mr. B, who was waiting to enter the parking lot, became dissatisfied when the female driver of the vehicle in front delayed, leading to a verbal dispute with her. Security guard Mr. A approached both Mr. B and the female driver to mediate the situation. However, Mr. B did not accept Mr. A’s mediation and reportedly verbally abused him with phrases such as "Be careful on the night road," and tripped Mr. A by hooking his leg. Mr. A fell and hit his head hard, losing consciousness. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but was ultimately declared brain dead.

It was reported that Mr. A had been working as a security guard at the apartment since May and had maintained good relations with the residents. Many residents were reportedly shocked and angry upon hearing the sudden news of his accident. One resident told KBS, "He was someone I saw every morning, and I felt so much anger." Additionally, Mr. A’s family expressed their outrage, saying, "Our family has been completely devastated by the actions of a young person in a moment," and "We will use every means available to us. This kind of incident should never happen again."

The police applied for a pre-trial detention warrant on the 13th against Mr. B on charges of serious injury. The warrant hearing (pre-trial suspect interrogation) is scheduled for the 19th. Furthermore, the police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident based on surveillance camera footage installed in the apartment.

Netizens who learned of this news are also outraged. They expressed their anger with comments such as "The perpetrator’s personal information should be disclosed," "Strong punishment is necessary," "Because punishments are too lenient, similar incidents keep happening," "He tried to mediate with good intentions but suffered great harm," and "My heart feels so heavy."
