Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun Visits Capital Hospital... Encourages Medical Staff Supporting Emergency Care During Holidays

On the 16th, Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun visited the Armed Forces Capital Hospital to encourage military medical personnel supporting emergency medical care during the Chuseok holiday, the Ministry of National Defense announced.


During his visit to the emergency room of the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, Minister Kim praised the medical staff, saying, "I am proud of all of you who are doing your best to fulfill the mission and role of the armed forces in protecting the lives and property of the people."


To the hospitalized soldiers, he wished for their speedy recovery, saying, "We will take full responsibility to ensure that your dedication and sacrifice for the defense of the Republic of Korea are respected."

Prior to this, Minister Kim held a video conference with the commanders of military hospitals under the Armed Forces Medical Command, emphasizing, "During the holiday period, the Medical Comprehensive Situation Center and emergency rooms of each hospital must thoroughly maintain a 24-hour emergency medical care system."


He also encouraged military doctors dispatched to civilian medical institutions, adding, "Personnel must be managed efficiently to prevent fatigue accumulation among military medical staff."


According to the Ministry of National Defense, the military is maintaining an emergency rescue and emergency medical care support posture during the government joint special traffic measures period from the 13th to the 18th of the Chuseok holiday, and through this, from the 13th to the morning of the 16th, 41 cases of public rescue and emergency medical care, including liver injuries and fractures, have been carried out.


Twelve military hospitals nationwide provide 24-hour emergency medical care during the holiday. Citizens in need of assistance can contact the Military Emergency Patient Support Center at (☎ 1688-5119).
