Hotels.com Reveals Lost and Found Lists of Over 400 Hotels
Global hotel booking service 'Hotels.com' has released 'lost and found' data from over 400 hotels worldwide. The results revealed that guests have forgotten a variety of bizarre items. These range from ultra-expensive wristwatches worth nearly hundreds of millions of won to dentures.
According to the 'Hotel Room Insights' report recently posted on the official Hotels.com website, the most common lost items are laundry, electronic device chargers, cosmetics, and toiletries. These are presumed to be items left behind by guests who hurriedly left their rooms.
The report also ranked lost items by price. The most expensive lost items included Rolex wristwatches and luxury Birkin bags. Notably, among the wristwatches found by hoteliers was an ultra-high-end watch sold for about 900 million won.
There was also a list of 'challenging lost items' that were difficult to handle, mostly consisting of pets. Some pet owners even left behind chicks and lizards. Fortunately, the lost pets were later safely returned to their owners.
The 'essential daily items' list included two leg casts and an enormous quantity of dentures enough to fill an entire hotel. Additionally, rice cookers, car tires, blenders, and construction pipes were found in some rooms.
Returning lost items to guests is the responsibility of hoteliers. One hotelier drove as far as 160 km to return a lost passport to a guest. Another hotelier reportedly raced to the dock to deliver lost items just before a cruise ship's departure. There was also a case where an employee spent four hours returning a lost bag to a guest.
Some hotels even offer services to 'lend items guests forgot to bring' for those with severe forgetfulness. One hotel provides a 'soap concierge,' while another offers accessory rentals such as sunglasses and handbags.
