The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the 16th that North Korea released approximately 120 trash balloons from the afternoon to night of the 15th.
The JCS stated, "About 40 pieces of debris were confirmed in the northern Gyeonggi Province and Seoul areas," adding, "The contents were paper materials, vinyl, plastic bottles, and other household waste, and analysis showed no substances harmful to safety."
Since May, North Korea has released trash balloons a total of 20 times, including this incident.
Notably, in the past ten days, North Korea released trash balloons nine times: six times over five days from the 4th to the 8th, once on the 11th, and twice from the 14th to the 15th.
