New Applications for 2024 Mapo-gu Model Restaurants Open Until September 24
General Restaurants Open for More Than 6 Months Eligible, Various Benefits Upon Designation
Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) is accepting new applications for the 2024 Model Restaurants until September 24 to promote a proper food culture.
Model Restaurants are establishments that have hygienic facilities and provide high-quality services, striving to improve the food culture.
Applicants must be general restaurants located in Mapo-gu that have been in business for more than six months. Establishments that have had their designation canceled due to administrative measures such as business suspension can apply after two years from the date of the penalty. However, establishments primarily dealing with alcoholic beverages or handling objectionable foods are excluded.
Mapo-gu will conduct on-site inspections of the applicants and, after deliberation by the Mapo-gu Food Culture Improvement Movement Promotion Committee, will finalize the designation of Model Restaurants on October 25.
Designated Model Restaurants will receive a Model Restaurant sign. Along with this, various benefits such as promotion during district events will be provided. Additionally, they can receive priority low-interest loans from the Food Promotion Fund or facility improvement funds, and hygiene inspections will be exempted for two years from the date of designation.
Furthermore, Model Restaurants must fulfill obligations and responsibilities to maintain the level of food culture and will be subject to strict follow-up management.
The designation as a Model Restaurant is maintained for one year, and re-designation requires evaluation through the same process.
To apply, visit the Hygiene Division of the Mapo-gu Public Health Center in person or refer to the notices on the Mapo-gu District Office website or the Mapo-gu Public Health Center website and submit the application via email to the person in charge.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “As the number of tourists visiting Mapo, including Hongdae Red Road, increases, the level of food culture must also rise. We hope for active participation to create a healthy dining environment, and Mapo-gu will do its best to lead food culture improvement through continuous management of Model Restaurants.”
