Jeonju City in Jeollabuk-do announced that it held the flea market "Palbok Suda Market" on the 14th at a temporary parking lot near Sinbok Village in Palbok-dong to revitalize the commercial district and promote communication among residents.
According to the city, the event was organized as part of the Palbok-dong urban regeneration project. It collaborated with four remodeled vacant houses turned into restaurants and cafes in the Suda Garden shopping area through the urban regeneration project: ▲Namusotbap ▲Baramyakgwa ▲Oncheon House ▲Cheongsudang. Along with food, various attractions and entertainment were provided.
About 50 local artists and shops participated in the event. They presented diverse programs including performances, experiences, flea markets, and events.
Visitors to the shops were given souvenirs produced by the Green Sinbok Village Urban Regeneration Field Support Center. Special events were also held, attracting many residents to participate.
The event was organized to provide a venue for revitalizing the local economy, recovering the commercial district, and fostering communication among residents. Following this September event, another session is scheduled for October 12.
A resident of Sinbok Village who visited the event said, "I am happy that such a fun event is held in the neighborhood, allowing me to come out with my friends and have a good time."
Heo Gap-su, Director of the Urban Maintenance Division, said, "The Suda Market has become an opportunity for the local economy of Sinbok Village to become more active and for the area to establish itself as a place people want to visit again. We will continue to strive to make this a sustainable event."
