Woo Ji-won was once arrested in 2014 for domestic violence. At the time, he was intoxicated at home and got into an argument with Ms. A, during which he threw a fan. The police, who were called by Ms. A, arrested him.

After this incident became public, Woo Ji-won explained on his social media, "At my wife’s urging, we drank together, and during the drinking, my wife continuously used provocative language. Our eldest daughter tried to intervene, but my wife’s tone and behavior continued, and I lost control and threw the fan on the floor."

He added, "I went into the room and fell asleep, but the police came due to my wife’s report, and I ended up going to the police station. We were both somewhat intoxicated, so our judgment was impaired. Throwing the fan was definitely my fault. As a public figure, I did something I should not have done. I sincerely apologize for causing concern."
