Gyeonggi Office of Education to Appoint All Waiting Candidates on October 1

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will appoint all civil servants currently waiting for appointment in October.

On the 14th, the Office announced that, excluding about 10 individuals who requested appointment deferral due to childbirth, childcare, studies, military service, and other reasons among the 153 current appointees waiting, all others will be appointed effective from the 1st of next month.

The Office regularly conducts civil servant personnel appointments in January and July to fill vacancies, but it is unusual to have a large-scale appointment outside of the regular personnel schedule like this.

This is in accordance with the government's 'Measures to Create Conditions for Concentrated Work for Civil Servants,' established earlier this year to prevent the departure of low-ranking civil servants belonging to the so-called 'MZ Generation (born early 1980s to early 2000s)'.

As a follow-up to the Measures to Create Conditions for Concentrated Work for Civil Servants, the amendment to the 'Local Government Officials Appointment Decree' has been in effect since July this year. The amendment stipulates that newly appointed candidates who pass the civil service exam must be appointed within one year from the final pass date to prevent long-term waiting.

Currently, most of the appointees waiting at the Office passed the civil service exam in September last year, and the rest passed earlier, all qualifying for appointment next month under the amendment.

An official from the Office stated, "We recently informed the appointees waiting about the October appointments," adding, "We hope this appointment will alleviate their anxiety and resolve vacancies in the field."
