The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 14th that Chairman Kim met with Secretary Shoigu in Pyongyang on the 13th, where they held talks "in a friendly and trusting warm atmosphere" and "reached a satisfactory consensus."

Secretary Shoigu's visit to North Korea coincided with the first anniversary of the summit between Chairman Kim and President Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

Chairman Kim and Secretary Shoigu are reported to have extensively exchanged views on continuing to deepen strategic dialogue between North Korea and Russia, strengthening cooperation to safeguard mutual security interests, and on regional and international situations.

Chairman Kim evaluated that, according to the agreement reached at the North Korea-Russia summit held in Pyongyang last June, bilateral relations have been developing vigorously in all fields including politics, economy, and culture. He also stated that North Korea will continue to expand cooperation and coordination with Russia in accordance with the spirit of the treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Secretary Shoigu, who was the Minister of Defense last year in July, led a military delegation to visit Pyongyang, attended the 70th anniversary event of the Korean War Armistice Agreement, which North Korea calls Victory Day, and paid a courtesy call on Chairman Kim.
