Guri-si Holds Completion Ceremony for 'Traditional Market 2nd Public Parking Building'

Total Project Cost of 30.7 Billion KRW Invested... Securing 383 Parking Spaces
Expecting Regional Economic Revitalization by Solving Traditional Market Parking Shortage

Guri-si Holds Completion Ceremony for 'Traditional Market 2nd Public Parking Building' On the 13th, Baek Kyung-hyun, Mayor of Guri, and other key attendees are cutting the ribbon to announce the completion of the 'Guri Traditional Market 2nd Public Parking Building.'

The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will hold a completion ceremony for the 'Guri Traditional Market 2nd Public Parking Building' at the Guri Traditional Market 2nd Public Parking Lot (50, Angol-ro 57beon-gil, Guri-si), marking the fruition of a long-awaited project by traditional market merchants and Guri citizens.

Despite constructing the 1st public parking lot in 2012, which could accommodate 119 vehicles, the parking space was insufficient compared to the number of visitors, causing the traditional market commercial district to shrink. To address this issue, the city pushed forward with the construction of the 2nd public parking building.

Accordingly, in September 2018, a contract was signed with the construction company Namgwang Construction Co., Ltd., and construction began. The project was completed with a total budget of 30.7 billion KRW, a total floor area of 17,783㎡, and a scale of three basement floors and five above-ground floors, securing a total of 383 parking spaces to greatly enhance convenience for users.

About 200 people, including Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri, Shin Dong-hwa, Chairperson of the Guri City Council, National Assembly member Yoon Ho-jung, city and provincial council members, heads of local organizations, the president of the traditional market merchants' association, and residents, will attend the completion ceremony. The event will proceed in the order of a pre-ceremony performance, progress report, award presentation, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and facility tour.

Meanwhile, inside the 2nd public parking building, besides the parking lot, the first floor will house a joint sales center for the traditional market merchants' association and the Commercial District Revitalization Foundation, and the basement first floor will have an education center for merchants. These facilities will be operated for the benefit of the merchants, and the overall parking management and facility operation will be entrusted to and managed by Guri Urban Corporation.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, "I am very pleased that the 2nd public parking building, a long-cherished wish of the traditional market merchants and Guri citizens, has been constructed. I especially thank the merchants and nearby residents who willingly endured many inconveniences during the more than four years of construction." He emphasized, "The 2nd public parking building will improve convenience for traditional market visitors and contribute to revitalizing the local economy of Guri."
