With Korea Fisheries Resources Agency, Tongyeong Geoje Environmental Movement Federation, and Seonchon Fishing Village Association
The Yeongnam Sea Grant Center at Pukyong National University (Director: Lee Incheol) conducted a 'Marine Debris Collection Activity in Tongyeong and Geoje, Gyeongnam' on September 10.

This activity was attended by more than 60 participants, including Professor Kim Kyunghoe and about 40 students from the Department of Ocean Engineering at Pukyong National University, employees of the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency (President: Lee Chunwoo), members of the Tongyeong Geoje Environmental Movement Union (Chairman: Shin Jongho), and members of the Seonchon Fishing Village Association (Head: Ji Ukcheol). They collected marine debris and carried out environmental cleanup activities in the area around Banghwa Island in Tongyeong.
Since 2022, the Yeongnam Sea Grant Center at Pukyong National University has been carrying out annual public marine debris collection projects in the Tongyeong and Geoje area, in cooperation with organizations such as the Tongyeong Geoje Environmental Movement Union and the Seonchon Fishing Village Association.
This year, prior to this activity, a marine debris collection was conducted in the Taejongdae area of Busan in May. The Korea Fisheries Resources Agency also joined the public project in Tongyeong and Geoje, lending their support.
The Yeongnam Sea Grant Center at Pukyong National University is implementing the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' Korea Sea Grant Program, focusing on training fisheries professionals, conducting research on regional issues for the advancement of marine and fisheries industries in the Yeongnam region (Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam), and carrying out public service projects.
