A public parking lot capable of simultaneously accommodating 74 camping cars and caravans will be operated in Seo-gu, Incheon starting this November.
Incheon City announced on the 13th that it completed the construction of the public parking lot last month with an investment of 1.5 billion KRW on the site at 381-40, Wonchang-dong, Seo-gu, which was donated in 2015, and is currently preparing for its opening.
This parking lot has a total of 128 spaces, including 54 spaces for regular vehicles. The Incheon City Facilities Corporation will operate it as a paid membership system, and information on parking fees and membership application methods will be announced through the corporation's website.
Currently, there are a total of 1,127 camping cars and caravans registered in Incheon, but 1,011 of these vehicles were registered before the mandatory garage registration system was implemented in 2020, resulting in a lack of proper parking spaces.
An official from Incheon City stated, "Although the government and local authorities are addressing the issue through amendments to the Parking Lot Act and the introduction of paid parking, there is still a shortage of safe parking spaces for camping cars and caravans. We expect that once the Wonchang-dong parking lot opens, it will be able to accommodate some of the camping cars and caravans currently parked long-term in free parking lots within the city."
