"Running During the Holidays"... Why Running Enthusiasts Flock to Secondhand Trading Platforms

National Running Challenge '2024 Danggeun Race' Until the 15th

For the 'running tribe' who enjoy running, holidays are not days to rest but perfect days to run. This enthusiasm for running continues during the five-day Chuseok holiday as well. A representative place to confirm this is the local community platform Danggeun. The nationwide running festival '2024 Danggeun Race,' held from the 3rd to the 15th for the first 10,000 participants, is underway.

Danggeun announced on the 15th that during this '2024 Danggeun Race,' more than 700 running record verifications were made daily on average nationwide. Even before the event opened, nearly 27,000 people applied for notifications during the one-week pre-registration period, nearly three times the total recruitment scale, raising expectations.

This event allowed anyone to participate freely regardless of time and place. Depending on the target distance, there were five categories: '2K Run,' '5K Run,' '7K Run,' '10K Run,' and 'Meongmeong Run,' where participants run with their dogs regardless of distance. Participants joined their desired category chat rooms and took part in the challenge by uploading GPS app-based running records and certification photos. Danggeun awards prizes to the Speed King who achieved the best record in each category, the Diligence King who ran consistently, and also selects a Luck King through a draw.

The most popular category was the '5K Run.' The 5K Run group saw the highest participation rate, with an average of about 240 running records uploaded daily. Next, the '10K Run' and '2K Run' categories also saw about 170 posts uploaded daily on average.

The 'Meongmeong Run' category, running with dogs, was also popular. This unique race opportunity, which allowed participation like a walk with dogs without distance restrictions, attracted great interest. Various scenes of 'running partner' dogs roaming around neighborhoods were shared in real-time.

Jingyeom, head of the Danggeun Group Platform Team, said, "Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of runners, the nationwide running festival 'Danggeun Race' was successfully held," and added, "We plan to continue supporting many users to easily enjoy various activities with neighbors through Danggeun groups."
