Coupang, Rocket Delivery Proceeding Normally
On Chuseok day, the 17th, some stores in large supermarkets and outlets will operate normally, while major department stores nationwide will be closed. Major e-commerce companies will pause deliveries, but Coupang will deliver as usual during the holiday.
According to the distribution industry on the 16th, major department stores will be closed for two days during this holiday period, including Chuseok day. Lotte Department Store will close 29 stores, including the main store and Jamsil branch, for two days starting from that day. Bundang and Centum City branches will be closed on the 17th and 18th. However, shopping mall stores such as Lotte World Mall and Suji, Gimpo Airport, Suwon, and Eunpyeong branches will operate normally without closing. Only the Sanbon branch will be closed for one day on the 17th.
Shinsegae Department Store’s Gangnam, Times Square, Gyeonggi branches, and 11 other stores will be closed for two days starting from that day. The main store will be closed on the 17th and 18th, and the Hanam branch will be closed only on Chuseok day. Hyundai Department Store will close 10 stores, including the Trade Center, Cheonho, and Mokdong branches, for two days starting from the 16th. Apgujeong main store, Sinchon, and Mia branches, among 5 stores, will be closed on the 17th and 18th.
Large supermarkets’ operation varies by store. This is due to different circumstances such as local ordinances related to supermarket closures. On the 17th, most stores will operate with reduced hours except for some stores. Among 131 E-Mart stores, 42 stores including Sanbon, Dongtan, and Namyangju branches will be closed on Chuseok day. The remaining stores will operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Among 22 Traders Wholesale Club warehouse discount stores, only 10 stores including Gunpo, Anseong, and Hanam branches will be closed on Chuseok day.
Homeplus will close 20 stores including Kintex and Dongdaemun branches out of 127 stores on the 17th. Lotte Mart will operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the 17th at all stores except 28 stores including Cheongnyangni, Seocho, Ansan, and Jeju branches out of 111 stores.
Most outlets will operate even on Chuseok day during this holiday period. Since the holiday is long, many customers are expected to go on outings. Shinsegae Premium Outlets will open all stores from noon on the 17th. Lotte Outlet will open 8 stores including Dongbusan, Gimhae, Icheon, and Paju branches from noon on Chuseok day. The remaining stores will be closed on Chuseok day. Hyundai Outlet and Connect Hyundai will also be closed on Chuseok day.
E-commerce companies with their own delivery networks will continue deliveries during the holiday period. Coupang, in particular, will deliver as usual throughout the holiday. Coupang’s Rocket Delivery, which operates with directly employed delivery drivers, will provide same-day, dawn, and next-day delivery services during the holiday period including Chuseok day.
Shinsegae’s e-commerce platform SSG.com (Sseuk.com) will pause deliveries only on the 17th. Kurly’s dawn delivery service, Saetbyeol Delivery, will not deliver on the 18th. Therefore, products ordered on the 17th can be received on the 19th. Items ordered the day before will be delivered normally on the 17th. However, deliveries will not be made to Jeju Island on the 17th and 18th.
